Maria Theodorou (Mrs)
Arts Lecturer

Maria is a Fine Arts Tutor with an Undergraduate Degree of Fine Arts, from UCA Canterbury, in Kent. She majored in Painting, Sculpture and Installation Art. Her zeal for Arts drove her to her Masters Degree in Arts and Culture Management at the Rome Business School. Moving back to Cyprus in 2013, Maria begun working both as an Art Director and as an Art Tutor. Art Tutoring won her over as she hopes to plant a seed keeping future generations thinking creatively. Her teaching experience has spanned all age groups and covered the full range of art materials. She believes that art is a process of learning to create ourselves and experience the world in new ways.

Currently working at our CYPF department in Nicosia since 2018.

Katerina Koni (Mrs)
Psychology/Sociology teacher

I am a Clinical Psychology Doctoral Trainee in Cyprus, with prior academic experience in the UK.

I have worked in a college in the UK with people with various learning difficulties (autism, dyslexia, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, hearing and visual impairments) with experience of teaching techniques and methods tailored to each student’s needs.

I have been teaching Psychology and Sociology since 2014 at the Cypf Institute and have students from the past who have pursued a degree in social sciences in good universities and have graduated now with honours. The courses I teach are theory-based, but have a person-centred humanistic approach where an understanding of the world from a psychological/sociological perspectives is achieved- a life skill for all.

My name is Andreas Stylianou and I was born in the UK at September 2nd 1970. I came to Cyprus at 1979 and I finished the Pancyprian lyceum Larnaca at 1989. After my army obligations I finished my master’s degree at Loughborough University of Technology UK in 1995 and I have worked since as a teacher in many educational institutes like colleges and private schools in Cyprus. I am working in the science field, in computer science, and I am always ready to teach any technological subject even if it is a new subject and therefore not learned in my years of study, because I am always up to date either through seminars or through my own study. When you learn how to learn the there are no limits in Education.

Mikaella Chlorakiotou (Mrs.)
Business and Economics / Accounting Lecturer

I am a Certified Chartered Accountant with a degree in BSc ( Hons) Accounting & Finance studied at the Manchester Metropolitan University. I have 10 years experience in the business sector working as an Auditor and currently an Accountant at a Fiduciary firm.

I have been teaching the module of Business since 2017 at the Cypf Institute. Teaching has always been my passion and i am always trying to pass my instinctive enthusiasism to my students.

Stavros Christodoulou (Mr.)
Physics Lecturer

I obtained my degree in Physics at the University of Cyprus. During my bachelor’s degree I had the opportunity to be exposed to various topics related to fundamental physics, such as electromagnetism, gravity, quantum mechanics. Apart from that, I acquired complementary (for a physicist) knowledge on mathematics, as well as programming skills. During my final year, I attended two summer schools (Annecy-le-Vieux, Uttrecht) on topics related to high energy physics and I undertοοκ a dissertation project on “Βlack Ηole Thermodynamics in Anti-de Sitter Spacetimes”.

After finishing my undergraduate degree, I continued my postgraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh, where I obtained my master’s in “Theoretical Physics”. Currently, I have returned to the University of Cyprus to pursue further postgraduate studies at a PhD level. My research interests lie in topics related to high energy physics, cosmology and gravity. At the same time, I am also a teaching assistant for the Quantum Mechanics course being taught in the context of the undergraduate programme.

It was a pleasure for me to meet you, to collaborate with you. Even if I had lessons once a week, your school was a cozy place for me where you gave me the opportunity and the freedom to express my joy of teaching, to inspire and to motivate my students to discover the beauty of a new language and culture. You were all very kind and polite, and I felt that I was a member of the team, a member of your family. I am glad that I met you I am thankful for the opportunity that you gave me!

Alexandros Constantinou (Mr)
Biology / Chemistry  (Visiting Lecturer)

I earned a BSc (Hons) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Edinburgh and following that I enrolled in a 4-year fully funded MRC DTP PhD programme in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research at Warwick Medical School, which gave me the unique opportunity in year one to receive a fully-funded MSc degree in IBR, before progressing onto my 3-year PhD project.

During both my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I have demonstrated a commitment in conducting interdisciplinary research. Each research experience has not only taught me new laboratory research skills and specialized knowledge, but it has reinforced my enthusiasm and passion for research. During this time, I was also active in the education sector, with students from all education stages.

In my free time, I like to read scientific articles in order to stay updated on many scientific topics.

Elena Koumeni

I started my studies at the University of Cyprus where I obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Byzantine and Modern Greek Language and Literature. Following my Bachelor Degree, I continued my studies at the University of Nicosia, where I enrolled in a 1.5 year, fully funded MA of Counselling / Professional Orientation. Simultaneously, I earned a European programme certificate, as a Global Career Development Facilitator GCDF. The GCDF certification proved extremely valuable to my career development profession, as I gained valuable counselling and employability skills.

During this time, I was also active in the education sector, teaching students of all education stages, especially focusing on students of secondary education. In my free time, I like to read several articles in order to stay updated on various different subjects. Currently, I am working at our CYPF department in Nicosia, since 2017.

Loucia Karatzia (Dr) Medicine
Lecturer in our Biomedical Science department

Dr Loucia Karatzia is an Internal Medicine Trainee at Oxford NHS trust.

She obtained her medical degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Medical School in 2017, with honours. Following the completion of her studies, she worked as an Internal Medicine Doctor at the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre.

Currently, she is commencing the fourth year of the medical training programme in the United Kingdom working full time. Loucia is also studying the MSc in Medical Research Methods at Queen Mary University in London.

Loucia is holding the managerial role of  Internal Medical Training Representative in the Oxford Region since 2019.

At CYPF Dr. Karatzia is mentoring our Medical candidates preparing them for their UCAT, IMAT, BMAT and other country specific Medical exams. She is guiding our students through their exams and prepares them for successful interviews. Also she is giving real life examples to medical candidates and takes them through their hospital experiences organized by our school.
